Excellent Performance of T.I.M.E. Students in GATE 2017
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level examination jointly conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and IISc on behalf of National Coordination Board NCB-GATE,Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. IIT Roorkee is the organising institute for GATE 2017.
The exam tests the comprehensive understanding of candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering / Technology / Architecture and Post-Graduate level subjects in Science. The GATE score is used for admissions into Post-Graduate programs (M.E., M.Tech., direct Ph.D.) in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score is also used by many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment.
The results for GATE 2017 examination were declared on 26th March. A total of 9,22,167 candidates had registered for GATE 2017 out of which 7,87,148 candidates appeared for the examination.
The examination was conducted in 195 cities with a total of more than 680 test centres, across 29 states and 7 Union Territories of the country. GATE 2017 was also held for international candidates in Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E), Bangladesh, Ethiopia. Examination for all these papers was conducted in multi-session mode. Hence for these papers,a suitable normalisation is applied to take into account any variation in difficulty levels of question papers across sessions.
In GATE 2017, top ranks secured by T.I.M.E. students are AIR 1 IN*, AIR 1 XE^, AIR 3 EC, AIR 3 CS, AIR 6 IN*, AIR 19 EE, AIR 39 CS, AIR 41 EC, AIR 43 EC, AIR 74 EC, AIR 85 CS etc.
