IPMAT IIM Rohtak Analysis
IPMAT 2022 was conducted by IIM Rohtak on 26 June 2022 (2 PM to 4 PM). As per the pattern it was a Computer Based test of 2 hours duration and had 120 questions divided into 3 sections with a maximum of 480 marks namely quantitative ability, logical reasoning and verbal ability. There was however no sectional time limit contrary to what was announced by IIM Rohtak on their website
The overall difficulty level could be considered to be moderate. The Logical reasoning section could be considered easy-moderate whereas Verbal ability was slightly higher on difficulty compared to the previous year’s paper. Quantitative Ability was easiest compared to the other two sections and overall the paper was easier than last year. All the questions were MCQ Based.
Quantitative Ability had a total of 40 questions with a mix of topics/concepts. Areas like Time and work, Number system, Permutation and combinations, Mensuration, Time and DIstance had a good representation. No on screen calculator was provided this time.
Out of 40 Questions, a score of 28+ could be considered a good attempt.
Logical Reasoning had 40 Questions with maximum focus on Series questions. Coding and Decoding, Blood relations etc. Other usual LR topics like Arrangements, Analogies, Clocks and calendars etc. were also present, making this section well represented by most areas of LR. This section was doable overall, but was time consuming. T.I.M.E. students who have been taught all these concerts in detail would have had no difficulty navigation this section.
A score of 30+ can be considered as good in this section.
Verbal Ability with 40 Questions had the maximum representation, as expected, from Reading Comprehension, with about 8 Qs. Synonyms and Antonyms questions, along with questions on Analogies, took a close second spot, highlighting the importance of good vocabulary to crack this test. A good number of Qs on Idioms and Phrases further strengthens the need for students to have a good reading habit. Questions were also present from Sentence Completion, Error Spotting (Grammar), Sentence Re arrangement and Spelling Errors.
This section was moderate, overall, and should not be much of a problem for a well-prepared student.
An attempt of 28+ in this section is expected to give a good score.
Considering the overall difficulty level the expected cutoff could fall in the range of 265-270 for the general category.
