MICAT 2022 Analysis

MICA, Ahmedabad administered MICAT I on December 3, 2022

The exam had three sections with a time duration of 135 minutes.

Section A: Psychometric Test

Section B: Descriptive Test

Section C: Aptitude Test with four sub-sections

  1. Divergent & Convergent Thinking
  2. Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
  3. Verbal Ability
  4. General Awareness

A total of 150 questions were asked in the Psychometric Test and four in the Descriptive Test. There was no negative marking in the Psychometric Test and the Descriptive Test. Psychometric Test was compulsory though was only a qualifying test.

The Aptitude Test section had 70 questions with most of the questions having eight choices. Candidates were required to answer all these 70 questions in 80 minutes. The questions in this section carried 1 mark for each question and 0.25 for each incorrect response.

Section-wise Analysis

SECTION A - Psychometric Test

A total of 150 questions were asked in the Psychometric Test. There are no right and wrong answers in this section. The test-takers are supposed to answer the questions with as per the applicability of the given situation to them.

Story This section consisted of four pictures. Students had to write down a particular pictorial combination (A-B-C-D or D-C-B-A or any such combination) and explain it with the help of a story Explanation with a story -- 30

This section tested the analytical and descriptive writing ability and creative skills of the test-takers. It had three Argumentative type questions and one-story type question.

In the Story question, the test-takers were shown four pictures and they had to choose an order of the pictures and write a story based on that.

The candidates had to complete this section in 25 minutes.

SECTION C - Aptitude Section

This section has four sub-sections which had 20 questions each. The total number of questions in this section was 80 and candidates were given a total of 80 minutes. The overall difficulty level of the section ranged from Moderate to Difficult.

Students who clear the Psychometric Test, secure an overall score of 32 (+/-)2 in Section C and also fulfil the other criteria given by MICA can expect a call for the next round i.e., GE-PI round.
